Adviser Connect Pty Ltd – Privacy Policy
1. About this policy
This policy explains how Adviser Connect Pty Ltd (ABN 64 075 929 976) (Adviser Connect, we, us) handles personal information collected through our website at www.adviserconnect.com.au (the Website).
Adviser Connect is an Australian-owned software company that builds software for the insurance and superannuation industry. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy covers the Website only. The Website shares information about our products and services, and collects personal information through our Contact Us form and through standard website logs. It does not host or process insurance quotes, applications, underwriting or claims for our clients or their customers. Personal information we handle when providing software services to insurers and super funds is governed by our agreements with those clients and by their own privacy policies.
2. What personal information we collect
We collect only two kinds of personal information through the Website: what you choose to give us in the Contact Us form, and technical information logged automatically when you visit.
Information you give us. If you complete our Contact Us form, we collect:
- your name and email address (required)
- your phone number (optional)
- your organisation and role (optional)
- the products or services you are interested in, and what you would like us to do (optional)
- anything else you choose to include in your message
Please do not include sensitive information (such as health information) or details about any insurance policy or claim in the form. We do not need it, and the Website is not the place to make an insurance enquiry or claim. If you have a question about a policy or claim, please contact your insurer or super fund directly.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, our hosting provider’s servers automatically log technical information, including your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you request, the referring page, and the date and time of your visit.
You can browse the Website without telling us who you are. If you would rather contact us without using the form, you can email us directly; you may also use a pseudonym, although we may then be unable to respond fully to your enquiry.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you complete the Contact Us form or email us. Our hosting provider collects technical log information automatically when your browser requests pages from the Website.
If someone else gives us your details (for example, a colleague who refers you to us), we will handle them in line with this policy.
4. Why we collect, hold and use it
We use Contact Us information to respond to your enquiry and to follow up about Adviser Connect products and services you have asked about. This may include arranging a meeting or demonstration, sending you information you requested, and keeping a record of our communications with you.
We use technical log information to keep the Website secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose technical problems.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
If you do not give us your name and email address, we will not be able to respond to your enquiry.
5. Marketing communications
If you contact us through the Website, we may send you occasional information about Adviser Connect products, services and events that relate to your enquiry. We will only do this where you have consented or would reasonably expect it, and in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Every marketing email we send includes a simple way to unsubscribe. You can also opt out at any time by emailing contact@adviserconnect.com.au. We will action your request promptly and free of charge.
6. Who we disclose it to
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the Website and respond to enquiries, and only for those purposes. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
These providers are our website host, WP Engine, which holds the technical log information, and Microsoft, whose Microsoft 365 services run our Contact Us form and store enquiries and our email.
We may also disclose personal information to our professional advisers (such as lawyers and accountants) where needed, or where required or authorised by law, such as to a court or regulator.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some personal information may be stored or accessed outside Australia. Website log information collected by WP Engine is stored on servers in Sydney, Australia; WP Engine may access it from other countries, including the United States, to provide support and security services. Contact Us information is stored in our Microsoft 365 environment, which is hosted in Australia; Microsoft may access it from other countries to provide support and security services.
Where information is held overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure our providers handle it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, including by choosing reputable providers with appropriate contractual privacy and security commitments.
You can read our providers’ privacy terms at wpengine.com/legal/privacy and privacy.microsoft.com.
8. Cookies and analytics
The Website uses only the cookies needed for it to work and stay secure. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics tools that identify you.
You can set your browser to block or delete cookies; the Website should still work, although some features may not.
9. Storage, security and retention
We store Contact Us information electronically in our Microsoft 365 environment. Access is limited to Adviser Connect staff who need it, protected by multi-factor authentication.
We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, maintain our business relationship with you, and keep a record of our communications. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it, unless the law requires us to keep it. WP Engine keeps Website log information for 30 days.
No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure. If we experience a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing contact@adviserconnect.com.au. We will respond within 30 days and will not charge you for making a request.
We may need to confirm your identity first. If we decline a request, we will tell you why in writing and how you can complain.
